It is vital that you inform Sapper Survival School in advance of any medical / health conditions or medication which might affect your ability to partake in practical activities such as the use of knives and fire, before booking. All information is treated sensitively and in confidence.
Medical Conditions that may affect participation can include but are not limited to:
Where appropriate your instructor will offer physical adjustments or alternatives to suit. It is your responsibility to work within your limits.
Anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, psychotic episodes or any other mental health conditions must speak to Sapper Survival School before attending any session. This is to ensure all needs are taken care of and that you are entering onto the right course for you.
At the beginning of every practical session your instructor will ask you to declare any injuries or medical conditions that may affect your ability to join in the practical side of the experience. It is solely your responsibility to inform your instructor of any additional needs / requirements prior to course commencement.
Feel free to contact your instructor before the start of your course to discuss in more detail if you prefer.
Please note that waivers are required to be completed at the beginning of every course, regardless of age / experience / ability.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
Sapper Survival School are under no obligation to refund or transfer your money in the event that you are unable to attend part of or the entire booking.
Please note that all courses are booked on a non-refundable basis. Should you wish to reschedule, please notify us no less than 72 hours prior to your booking via email: info@sappersurvival.co.uk. Reschedule will incur a 25% administration fee, and are subject to Sapper Survival School discretion.
Any online courses are non-refundable on total cost. This is due to instant access of course materials upon purchase.
If your doctor requests that you cease attending a face to face course due to medical reasons, upon producing a valid medical certificate you will be refunded, outside 72 hour advancement of course. Notice within 72 hours of course start date, no refund will be given.
Sapper Survival School are not obliged to guarantee an alternative for missed courses (unless this is due to a cancelled course on our behalf).
RECORDING OR PHOTOGRAPHY
We have a no personal photography policy once the course starts. Only under direct and specific instruction by our staff will personal photography be permitted. Filming or recording of any description during face to face courses, live streaming or pre-recording of Sapper Survival School courses are strictly prohibited. We forbid the right to film, reproduce or share any part of our lessons in any form (i.e. YouTube, internet sites, stream, DVDs, photography etc). This is to protect the identity of some of our instructors and to mitigate IP theft. Anyone suspected of continually filming, observing or photography during the lessons for this purpose will be removed, banned from all future access, and face legal prosecution.
Official photography & videography will be taken. By booking, you agree to any official photography taken to be used by Sapper Survival School for advertising purposes via online services or social media.
We are committed to creating an environment that includes, welcomes, and supports people from all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion and sexuality. All of our instructors are DBS checked and experienced in work with minors and young and vulnerable adults.
Language is important. It has the power to include, offend and confuse. As an organisation, it’s important for us to take a stance on what the most appropriate language is. This isn’t about banning words or “getting it right” but using language that has been thought through and considered.
We aim to make all courses accessible to participants whenever possible, regardless of their physical abilities and survival skill proficiency. However, practical elements include the use of bladed tools, fire, light physical exertion and movement around a woodland environment with an uneven surface, so may not be appropriate for some.
It is the customers responsibility to check the reservation and ensure that the particulars contained therein are correct.
In the event of cancellation of courses or events by Sapper Survival School then a full refund will be given.
In the event of cancellation of courses or events by the customer, (outside 72 hour advancement of course) regardless of the circumstances, no refund is permitted.
Due to situations beyond our control, we reserve the right to change bookings of courses and events, and shall inform the customer as soon as possible. Alternative arrangements may be offered, but we do not accept responsibility for any costs incurred.
We retain all copyright licence rights and sole exclusive ownership of the information, photographs and course material.
By booking, you agree to any photography taken to be used by Sapper Survival School only for advertising purposes via online services or social media.
We reserve the right to alter any facility, accommodation or activity.
The customer must comply fully with all and any health and safety regulations introduced by us.
Customers who have injuries or illnesses are advised to seek doctors advice prior to participation.
We are not liable for any injuries to the customer in his / her use of our facilities or participation in activities.
We cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal possessions or valuables of the customer.
In the event of a customer having any complaint then he / she will not discuss this with any third party and shall notify us as soon as possible via info@sappersurvival.co.uk.
We accept no liability for loss, damage, injury or illnesses which may be received during courses and events, or travelling to and from courses and events.
By booking you accept that neither the instructor, nor the hosting facility, is liable for any injury, or damages, to person or property, resulting from taking the course or event.
All staff on site are trained in first aid.
VALUABLES
All personal property taken to any of our courses or events is left at your own risk. Sapper Survival School does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal possessions before, during or after courses or events.
All our credit / debit card transactions are secure and processed by PayPal and Stripe.
For some payment methods, the service provider may charge you certain fees, such as foreign transaction fees. Please check with your payment method service provider for details. Please note Sapper Survival School charges 3.4% admin fee on transactions.
REFUNDS
We do not offer refunds on course bookings, unless stated differently above.
YOUR LIABILITY
By booking, you agree without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, you shall be liable for any liability, financial or otherwise, or injury or damage to property caused by the attendee whilst at a camp location, and shall fully indemnify Sapper Survival School, their agents, contractors and/or employees for any loss, damage, costs or expenses resulting from such liability, injury or damage.
Without prejudice to the above, Sapper Survival School reserves the right to withdraw attendees from any activity at any time on the grounds of safety or unsuitability.
OUR LIABILITY
Except in respect of death or personal injury caused by Sapper Survival School's negligence, Sapper Survival School shall not be liable to you by reason of any representation (unless fraudulent) or any implied warranty, condition or other term or any duty at common law or under the express terms of this Agreement, for any loss of profit or any indirect, special or consequential loss, damage, costs, expenses or other claims (whether caused by or negligent or the negligence of our servants, or agents or otherwise) which arise out of or in connection with the provision of the Services or their use by you, and our entire liability under or in connection with this Agreement shall not exceed the amount of our Fees for the provision of the Services.
Where Sapper Survival School provides any goods or equipment or services supplied by a third party, Sapper Survival School does not give any warranty, guarantee or other terms as to their quality, fitness for purpose, performance or otherwise.
Sapper Survival School shall have no liability to the attendee for any loss, damage, costs, expenses or other claims for compensation arising from any instructions supplied by you which are incomplete, incorrect, inaccurate or illegible, or arising from the attendee’s late arrival or non-arrival, or any other fault of the attendee.
Sapper Survival School shall not be liable to you or be deemed to be in breach of the contract by reason of any delay in performing, or any failure to perform, any of Sapper Survival School’s obligations in relation to the services, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond Sapper Survival School’ s reasonable control.
Sapper Survival School reserve the right to alter programs, activities, itineraries, excursions, age brackets, premises, and personnel as it thinks fit and without notice.
We shall not be liable for any delay in performing or failure to perform any obligation (including to action any alteration or cancellation) due to any case beyond our reasonable control including strikes, shortages of personnel, labour disputes, war, riot, act of God, civil commotion, terrorism, malicious damage, threats to safety, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, environmental contamination, pandemic outbreak of disease, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, flood, storm, difficulty or increased expense in obtaining workmen, materials, goods or raw materials in connection with the performance of this agreement.
Minors are classed as under 18 years old on the date the course starts.
All course bookings involving minors must be booked and accompanied by a participating adult who is over 18 years and one day, on the date the course is booked. Maximum permitted supervision is one participating adult to two participating minors.
The named adult on the booking takes sole responsibility for the minor on their booking, at all times during the course.
Any medical or behavioural concerns of the attendees known to you must be notified to Sapper Survival School in writing / on the booking form, and in any event prior to the commencement of the course. Sapper Survival School reserve the right not to accept your booking on the grounds that any medical or behavioural concerns presented are not conducive to the attendee or other attendee’s participation on the course. In all cases we will do our best to accommodate.
It is your (booking adult) responsibility to tell Sapper Survival School prior to course start date of any issue or condition that may affect an attendee’s experience on the course. These include but are not limited to ADHD, SEN, medical, languages, disabilities, diet, medical, behavioural / social issues, child’s history.
Children who disrupt the learning environment for other participants, who destroy property or projects, and who otherwise compromise the health, safety and / or learning environment will be removed. Sapper Survival School will be under no obligation to return any fees.
By booking you give permission to administer first aid if required.
You acknowledge that Sapper Survival School may use for publicity purposes and without prior notification any photograph or video taken of all attendees on location, and any statement (whether written or oral) made by attendees.
Working with children in the outdoors safely involves a deep awareness of potential risks, as well as a strict process for all activities. We carry out regular generic risk assessments as well as a dynamic risk assessment at the beginning of each day and each activity. A copy of our risk assessment is available upon request.
All instructors working on behalf of Sapper Survival School are fully DBS cleared, trained in first aid and CPR, and have up to date public liability insurance.
CHILD PROTECTION / SAFEGUARDING
At Sapper Survival School we take our safeguarding duties seriously. Not only will we ensure a child's safety on site, to the best of our abilities, we will also contact Local Safeguarding Children’s authority if we suspect abuse, or in the event of any disclosure.
STAFF CODE OF CONDUCT
The aim of our Team Code of Conduct is to provide clear guidance about the behaviours and actions we expect from our teams in order to not place children or adults at risk of harm or allegation of harm.
It also aims to help teams working with children to understand their role and responsibilities, as well as work safely and responsibly.
